KViK conducts workshop on opportunities in Vocational Skills
On the afternoon of 27th Nov.2015, in the pristine atmosphere of its training centre at Weavers Colony Main Road, KViK organized a workshop on creating awareness among the youth on career opportunities by acquiring skills through vocational training. Social worker Mr. Lokesh, Headmaster of Subramanyapura Highschool Mr. Ramakrishna, Dy.Head master of Begur Highschool Dr. Ramachandra were the chief guests. Demonstration of skills learnt during summer camp in Electrical training by 3 students of Gottigere Highschool, Computer Hardware repair by past students and a tour of the facility convinced the guests that creating awareness about vocational training is the need of the hour both from the perspectives of poor school dropouts as well as meeting the need of the economy for skilled workforce.
Mrs. Krupa Chakravarty, director of Dream Path Foundation and a KViK supporter anchored the lively discussion on the awareness on opportunities for employment/self-employment by vocational skill development. Guests made very useful suggestions on ways and means to attract youth to vocational training and pledged support. Mr. Arun Kumar, another supporter of KViK captured the main points and summarized the deliberations. Mrs. Sujatha Raju, Mrs. Vaishali Khandekar, Mrs. Veena Hegde and Mr. Ramesh contributed to the discussion.
